Generation X, 1965 to 1980, has sometimes been described as the middle-child generation. Part of this is because it’s sandwiched between two huge generations. In the United States, more than 77 million people were born during the Baby Boom generation (1948-1964). During the Gen-X years, 65 million were born, and the Millennial generation (1981-1996) swelled the population by more than 80 million. The Baby Boomers and the Millennials have received a lot of media attention and demographic research simply because they’re so big. Where does this leave the Gen-Xers? The social research that has been done shows Gen-Xers are independent and resourceful, adapt to change, tolerate different lifestyles, and are technological hotshots. From an energetic perspective, the Akashic Records say that Gen-Xers are building an unshakeable frame upon which other generations will rely. Below is part two of a four-part series on the generations.

What is the energetic agreement of Generation X?
They are the conduit of the work that was started with the Baby Boomers and will be continued by the Millennials.
Why is this conduit needed?
It’s needed for continuity. Generation X came in to be malleable; this generation is like a huge sponge. Theirs is a generational melting pot of attitudes, ideas, themes, and beliefs. They’re taking ideas from different sources—even more so than the Baby Boomers did—and making them their own. As the Gen-Xers have taken all of this raw material and then created their new ideas, themes and beliefs, the Millennial generation is now taking hold of what it considers the best of what Gen-X is doing and running with it. The work that’s happening with both the Gen-X and the Millennial generations is based on progression. What the GenX-ers are now doing is building on top of the foundation the Baby Boomers laid. It’s like building a house. The Baby Boomers built the foundation. Gen-Xers are putting up the frame. The Millennials and further generations will complete the structure.
What does the house represent?
More equality and egalitarianism and even more health for people and the Earth. These four generations have agreed to come together at this time to make these types of changes. That’s not to say, however, that each person in these generations is going to be perfect at it, or that there won’t be bumps and bruises along the way. In fact, there will be times when it looks like this construction just might collapse. But all four of these generations are specifically needed to create the equality that humanity has the potential to achieve. The people who are in each generation (Baby Boomers, Gen-Xers, the Millennials, and Gen-Zers) have chosen to be in their generation for a specific reason. No matter your generation, your soul chose to be here at this specific time.
What is the frame that Generation X is building?
What Generation X is building is going to be unshakeable. Even though the Baby Boomers did a lot of work, they also left a lot undone. The Baby Boomers started turning over the stones, but they left a bunch untouched. Generation X is now turning over more stones to look at what’s hiding underneath. Generation X is doing this next phase of work and then they’ll hand it off to the Millennials.
How is the work that Gen-X is doing going to affect the Millennials?
It’s going to give them an even stronger base for the work they’re beginning to do. Again, as with a house, you can’t have a solid, well-built house without a foundation and a frame. The thing about framing a house, though, is that it looks like a mess most of the time. There are piles of lumber everywhere, with one board going up over here, and another going up over there, and sawdust and tools everywhere else. For the longest time it doesn’t look like it’s going to turn into anything. It turns out, though, that Gen-Xers are master builders. Whether or not they as individuals or as an entire generation know it now, they’re leaving a solid frame on which the next generations can further advance the egalitarianism of humanity. There is an opportunity in the coming generations for much more peace—both with the Earth and each other. Generation X is now building those frames on which this can happen. The thing about foundations and frames, though, is that they’re rarely visible once the house is done. Future generations will be able to see the house that the Millennials and Generation Z built. But underlying that visible work is the less visible but crucial work of the Gen-Xers and the Baby Boomers.
Do the Akashic Records have anything else to say about Generation X?
It’s important to know that Gen-X has a special place. It is not a forgotten generation between two very large generations. Gen-Xers are providing an energetic bridge of understanding and communication to help others realize that their underlying goals of advancing big ideas are the same, even if there are different approaches to achieving them.
